Temperatures in Bulgaria are breaking records.

Haskovo experienced record-breaking warmth for the season for the second day in a row. The afternoon temperature in Bulgaria's southern regional center reached 23.8 degrees Celsius, a record high in the history of weather monitoring to date.

The local hydrometeorological observatory's duty officers reported this to BTA.

The previous warmest day on February 6th was in 1993, when the temperature reached 18.3 degrees Celsius. Monday also saw a record daily temperature of 21.3 degrees Celsius.

Targovishte has recorded a temperature record for the second day, according to Krasimira Stoycheva, head of the Meteorological Observatory. Today's maximum temperature is 21 degrees Celsius. According to the institution's report, the 1970 temperature record was 18.7 degrees Celsius.

According to Stoicheva, the maximum temperature for the month was recorded on February 27, 1995, at -25°C. The coldest temperature was in 1956, when -21.7°C was recorded. That same year, on February 5, the absolute minimum for the month was -22.9°C.

According to the weather forecaster, warm weather will prevail in the region until the end of the week.

Weather in northern Bulgaria

A temperature record was also recorded in Ruse.

This afternoon in Ruse, the maximum temperature was 21.9 degrees in the shade, which is a record for this date.

So far, the hottest day on February 6th was 2009, when thermometers recorded 18.6 degrees Celsius. The coldest on this date was in 2005, with minus 20.2 degrees Celsius.

Weather in Northwest Bulgaria

February 6th was the warmest February in Montana in many years.

At 3:00 PM, the temperature in Montana reached 23.8 degrees Celsius, Lenochka Angelova, head of the city's weather station, told BTA. This is the highest temperature in the city in several years; the last time temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius were reached in February was in 2016.

The forecast is for daytime highs in Montana and the region to be around 15-20 degrees by the end of the week, followed by precipitation and lows.

Only in the middle of next week will there be a significant cold snap and temperatures will return to the traditional February 5-10 degrees, Angelova clarified.

The Black Sea will see mostly sunny skies. Winds will be light to moderate from the west-southwest. Temperatures will be 13-16°C. Sea temperatures will be 6-8°C. Sea waves will be 1-2.
