Sunny Beach, Bulgaria off-season 2023 – life, accommodation prices, and vacations in the off-season

Hello everyone. I'm wondering if the shops and cafes are open during the off-season, and if there's any life in Sunny Beach during the off-season?
A noisy resort Sunny Beach, a large beach resort on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. Sunny Beach attracts young travelers from all over the world with its sand dunes, water sports, and vibrant life. But that's all in the summer. What about the winter?

A walk through the center of Sunny Beach

It's 17 degrees Celsius today. Let's start our walk around Sunny Beach from the resort center. Anyone who's been to Sunny Beach will surely know these places. Sunny Beach's central pedestrian street.

 

Pier on Sunny Beach

A favorite place for walks in both winter and summer is the pier. It's probably the most crowded place in Sunny Beach in winter. The beach in Sunny Beach offers views of Sveti Vlas.

Moving away from the pier, you can wander through the narrow streets of the resort.

The bus station is open in winter. As you can see, the number of routes is reduced, but buses to Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia, and other cities run regularly. City buses also operate on several routes: to Nessebar, Sveti Vlas, and Ravda. Buy the cheapest bus tickets. You can do it here. Taxis are available.

Just say "kiss, kiss," and cats will appear out of nowhere. If Sunny Beach had an alternative name, it would be "Cat Beach." This time, I prepared for my trip to Sunny Beach and brought cat food. Unexpectedly, seagulls joined the cats and sampled the cat food. Apparently, they liked it.

There's a small grocery supermarket nearby, and here's another one. But here's a new fast food place; it wasn't there that winter.

Moving southwest from the sea and the pier, we came across a shop called Janet. But it wasn't the huge Janet located on the Sunny Beach-Burgas road.

What are the prices for food in Sunny Beach?

And at the Mladost store we saw a lot of people, comparable to those at the pier in the center of the resort.

It was interesting to look at the product selection and prices. To my surprise, we saw a fairly decent selection and reasonable prices; some were more expensive, and some were cheaper than in other stores. There were even unique items not found in other stores.

Even now we see residential complexes under construction or ready for delivery, asphalt paving and other construction work.

Some complexes and their surrounding areas are equipped with surveillance cameras.

Sunny Beach rental prices in 2023

Over the past year, housing prices in Sunny Beach have changed significantly. In the off-season, renting a one-bedroom apartment in Sunny Beach averages around €360 per month (up from €250 last year).
But there are very few rental listings, just one page. We found a room for 292 euros per month. But as you can see, this only covers the entire year.

The situation is the same with two-bedroom apartments: there's little supply and everything has gone up in price. These options are currently being offered for €650 (up from €290 last year). They promise to be 150 meters from the sea.

Sunny Beach property prices in 2023

The best time to buy an apartment in Sunny Beach is winter. Although prices have almost doubled over the past year, there are still plenty of options. A one-bedroom apartment can be purchased for €20,000 (last year, prices started at €11,000). This option is located right in the resort, not in a field a few kilometers from the sea.

In the countryside, far from the sea, you can still buy an apartment, but at the same price as last year at a resort. For example, this apartment costs €13,500. A two-bedroom apartment costs €35,500 (last year's price was €22,500). But these are minimum prices; the average is around €60,000.

What happened in Sunny Beach?

Last winter, in the center of Sunny Beach, almost everything was closed, and almost everything was closed. People were rarely seen. Cats were more common on the streets than people.
This time, for the first time, we saw that life in Sunny Beach doesn't stop during winter. This year, Ukrainians have literally breathed life into Sunny Beach during the off-season. People are visible, not just in the center; there's movement. Many shops, cafes, pharmacies, and offices are open.

Nowadays, you can live normally in Sunny Beach in winter; almost everything you need works.
