Hello everyone. We're currently at Bulgaria's most popular resort, Sunny Beach. I wonder if it's as popular in the off-season? Are the shops and cafes open? Is there anything to do in Sunny Beach in the off-season? What's Sunny Beach like in winter?.

General information

This is Sunny Beach, a name that perfectly reflects the local climate. Today, it's 12 degrees Celsius and sunny. 

A walk through the center of Sunny Beach

Let's start our walk around Sunny Beach from the resort center. Anyone who's been to Sunny Beach will surely know these places. Sunny Beach's central pedestrian street.

The pier is a favorite place for walks, both winter and summer. It's probably the most crowded place in Sunny Beach in winter.

Once you leave the pier, you can wander for a long time through the small streets of the resort and not meet anyone. 

Lunapark

This is the famous Lunapark, located near the center of Sunny Beach. Lunapark features extreme rides and is a popular entertainment venue for both children and adults, attracting crowds and a lot of noise in the summer evenings. The rides are currently closed and awaiting the summer. 

The kiosks and ATMs are closed. Even in winter, Sunny Beach has greenery. In the center of Sunny Beach, there are no establishments or shops open in winter; almost everything is closed.

It's not crowded, but we encountered more cats than people. Just say "kitty," and cats will appear out of nowhere. In fact, if Sunny Beach had an alternative name, it would be "Cat Beach.".

Just a short distance from the center, we came across our first working clothing store. There's also a car rental shop nearby. The office is closed, but there's a phone number you can call to arrange a rental. Nearby, there's also a small grocery supermarket and another one.

Winter shopping in Sunny Beach

Moving southwest from the sea and the pier, we came across our first large store—Zhanet. But this wasn't the huge Zhanet located on the Sunny Beach-Burgas road. The store has a small parking lot and, as always, cats. 

We saw the most people at this store, comparable to the pier in the resort center. This place could be called the winter center of Sunny Beach.

What about housing in Sunny Beach? Even now, we see residential complexes under construction or ready for completion.

In Sunny Beach, renting a one-bedroom apartment during the off-season averages around €250 per month. Two-bedroom apartments are slightly more expensive.

The best time to buy an apartment in Sunny Beach is winter. A one-bedroom apartment can be purchased for €11,000, and that's in the resort itself, not in the countryside, where you can find it even cheaper. A two-bedroom apartment costs €22,500.

It turns out that the center of Sunny Beach in winter is located in the area of the Mladost store.

There's a large store called Janet nearby. Its specialty is its exclusive selection of goods. 

There's also a Lidl chain store, located at the entrance to Sunny Beach on the road from Varna. The store's specialty is its unique product selection, sometimes featuring exclusive items not found in other stores. It also offers the lowest prices on many product categories. 

We would like to add that due to the war in Ukraine, many hotels and complexes in Sunny Beach have organized the reception of refugees from Ukraine.

Sunny Beach offers a comfortable winter lifestyle for those who enjoy a more relaxed pace of life. Those who prefer big cities will find it uncomfortable.
