The prestigious town of Sveti Vlas is unofficially called the Bulgarian Saint Tropez. The first settlement on the current site of Sveti Vlas was founded as early as the second century AD.
The town has a permanent population of just over 4,000. It has a school, shops, pharmacies, and bus stops. The proximity of the mountain and the sea causes a change in the direction of air waves, creating a unique microclimate of a mixture of mountain and sea air, which is beneficial for the treatment of respiratory ailments. According to long-term data, the warmest sea water in Sveti Vlas is in August, with an average monthly temperature of 24.9°C.

Location

The resort town of Sveti Vlas is located in Bulgaria, adjacent to Sunny Beach. Situated at the foot of the southern slope of the Roga Stara Planina mountain, the town is protected from the northern winds. Sveti Vlas stretches over 5 kilometers from west to east.

And if you enter the city from the outside Sunny Beach, then the beginning of the city is simply not noticeable, so tightly have the two resorts grown together.

Sveti Vlas - Beaches

The beaches of Sveti Vlas are: "Central," "New West," which consists of two parts, and "East." Roads and paths to the beaches mostly run through complexes, making them difficult to find. To get to the beaches in Sveti Vlas, you need to descend steps. The beach in Sveti Vlas is sandy, with light, very fine, soft sand. The entry into the sea is normal, a "golden mean," so to speak. The sandy bottom isn't deep right away, but you don't have to walk 100 meters to reach the deep end.

The beach has lifeguards and a medical team. Umbrellas, sun loungers, and water rides are available. In addition to the paid umbrella area, there is also a free beach area. Prices on the beach are: umbrellas €4, sun loungers €4, and mattresses €1.

Despite Sveti Vlas being a small resort, water rides are available on the beaches. Standard water rides cost €12.50. Jet ski rides cost €40 for 10 minutes and €45 for 15 minutes. Previously, you could rent a motorboat or a small boat for fishing. We were told that these services are no longer available.

This year, two beaches in Sveti Vlas, "Novy" and "Vostok," received the prestigious international environmental award, the "Blue Flag.".

How to get there?

The nearest airport is Burgas — 33 kilometers and in Varna — 100 km.

Buses run from Burgas to Sveti Vlas several times a day. Tickets start at 3 euros. You can also take the bus to the Sunny Beach bus station, and from there, continue to Sveti Vlas. Buy the cheapest bus tickets. You can do it here

The town is connected by direct bus service to Sunny Beach and Nesebar. This route is also available from Varna. Bus stops are located throughout the city. Tickets cost 1 euro.

From Sveti Vlas every two hours, pleasure boats depart from the Dinevi pier to Nessebar.

Accommodation in Sveti Vlas

This summer, accommodation prices start at €27 for a double room, almost 20 percent higher than last summer. Beachfront hotels start at €42, and a double room with all-inclusive pricing starts at €120 per night. If you're looking to rent an entire apartment, studio apartments start at €32, and an entire villa starts at €80 per night.

If you want to buy an apartment in Sveti Vlas, one-room apartments start from 30,000 euros, 2-room apartments from 40,000 euros.

What if you haven't booked an all-inclusive hotel? Where should you eat?

First power supply option

The first option is the easiest. Eat at cafes or restaurants scattered throughout town. Good value options may be fully booked. Also, keep in mind that you'll have to place several test orders at different establishments, read reviews, and, in short, spend a considerable amount of time before you find the perfect one for you. This will also be the most expensive option.

Second option

This is a budget-friendly option. You cook your own meals and buy groceries at chain stores with the lowest prices. For example, in Sveti Vlas, you can find Lidl, and there's also Grand Janet, but you'll need to take transportation to get there. This option will keep your food costs close to what you'd spend at home.

Typical food prices at Glamour Beach: Fish soup €5. Tomato and feta salad €7. Mussel risotto €8.50. Pasta with bacon and parmesan €8.50. Fried horse mackerel €7. Mixed meat and vegetable pizza €9.50.

What to see in Sveti Vlas in 2023?

Church of St. Blaise

It stands on the site of an ancient monastery of the same name, which was destroyed in the 17th century. The church was consecrated by Metropolitan Ioannik of Sliven together with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. It is considered one of the best-maintained churches in Bulgaria.

Church of St. Athanasius the Great

The point is that this church was still in use during the Ottoman Empire, so its appearance was not meant to stand out.

Amphitheater Arena

It is located next to the Church of St. Blaise, which hosts over 100 historical performances each year. It also hosts concerts and other events, most of which are free.

Yacht Marina Dinevi

This is the center of the Sveti Vlas resort and its main attraction. The marina, with its clubs and restaurants, has become famous among Bulgaria's wealthier people. Expensive cars are often seen here.

There are two large water parks nearby. Action Aqua Park is 8 km away, and Nessebar Aqua Park is 15 kilometers away. Getting to the water parks is quite easy. Free minibuses stop at designated stops. Nessebar Aqua Park is more suitable for teenagers and adults, while Action Aqua Park attracts families with small children. It has more children's slides and even a small zoo. This summer, during the peak season, the prices are: Action Aqua Park is €29.50 for adults and €15 for children; Nessebar Aqua Park is €34 for adults and €17 for children. It's best to buy tickets online, as you'll receive a small discount.

There are ATMs in the city center, just like in Sunny Beach.

Sveti Vlas is a great place to spend your vacation with children or for a couple to unwind without too many tourists. However, Sveti Vlas is hardly a completely quiet resort; sometimes you can hear loud music in the distance. The closer you get to the sea, the more people you encounter. However, the town is much quieter than Sunny Beach. We recommend Sveti Vlas primarily to those seeking an active vacation but also value comfort and coziness.
