The number of civil flights in the EU reached 6.3 million in 2023.
There were 6.3 million civil flights in the EU in 2023, but this number remains below the pre-pandemic level in 2019 (7 million), Eurostat reports.

Non-scheduled flights (charters and other special flights) accounted for 9.2% of all flights in 2023. They predominated in the summer months of June, July and August (10.9%, 11.4% and 10.4% respectively).
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol had the highest number of civil flights in 2023 with 453,000, followed by Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris (451,000) and Frankfurt am Main (427,000) in Germany.
[tp_widget][/tp_widget]Among the top 10 airports with the highest number of flights, the highest share of non-scheduled flights was recorded in Athens (5.6%), Vienna (5.1%) and Madrid (4.7%).
