News from Bulgaria

Ukrainians in Bulgaria are pouring millions of euros into the Varna region.

Ukrainian businesses have invested nearly 30 million euros in the Varna region and district over the past year and a half.

This became clear from the words of Olesya Ilashchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Bulgaria. She is visiting the Varna regional administration for the second time to meet with the regional governor, Professor Andriana Andreeva, and her team, travellux.eu reports.

As Russia begins its third year of full-scale war against Ukraine, Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk expressed deep gratitude for the support her country has received from Bulgaria, including from the local community.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the strengthening of interstate dialogue, especially after the visit to Ukraine of Speaker of the National Assembly Rosen Zhelyazkov and Prime Minister Mykola Denkov.

Around 50,000 Ukrainians have received temporary protection in Bulgaria. Those who have found temporary homes and support in the Varna region are receiving assistance, protection, and support with family socialization, children's education, and business development, the diplomat added.

Ambassador Ilashchuk expects economic cooperation between the two countries to deepen, especially since the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sofia will host the first Bulgarian-Ukrainian business forum at the end of April this year. The event will provide participants with a wealth of information on the legal framework for business cooperation between the two countries in the economic and trade spheres.
