Acting Minister of Regional Development and Public Works of Bulgaria Violeta Koritarova announced that by the end of the year, the TOL system's cameras will be ready to record speeding on the country's roads. These measures are aimed at improving road safety, and, according to the minister, the cameras will operate automatically, recording speeding violations.

Speaking at a conference in Plovdiv, Minister Koritarova emphasized the importance of this step, especially in the context of the recently amended Road Traffic Law. The amendments focus on determining and monitoring average vehicle speeds, which will improve compliance monitoring on long stretches of road.

«"We've introduced the concept of 'average speed,' which will allow us to more effectively record violations, and this should lead to a reduction in accidents," Koritarova said.

She also opened the two-day "Vision 0" conference, dedicated to road safety. The main goal of the event, organized by the Bulgarian Road Safety Industry Association, is to reduce the number of road accident casualties to zero.

The Minister emphasized that maintaining and developing road infrastructure is a key element in ensuring road safety. According to her, improving road conditions directly impacts the reduction in accidents. She also noted that a recent decline in the number of road accidents has already been observed, which is a positive trend.

«"We see that the reduction in the number of road accidents is becoming a reality, and our goal is to ensure there are no casualties on the roads," Koritarova said.

During her conversation with journalists, the minister also touched on the topic of vignette prices for 2025. She assured that no significant price increases are expected next year. "We are considering leaving them at their current prices," she added.
